(New York, NY) February 2020: Vocal powerhouse and New York-based artist, Lisa Ramey first caught national attention on NBC’s hit music competition show, The Voice, where she performed on Team Legend. Earning acclaim for her rendition of “The Weight” and her impressive stage presence, Ramey went on to become a fan favorite. Now Lisa Ramey is taking her soulful rock artistry to the limit with her debut album Surrender, slated for release on March 27th, 2020.
Comprised of 13 original tracks, Ramey teamed up with her long-time collaborator, Emmy-nominated composer and multi-instrumentalist, Frank Cogliano on both producing and writing the album. The pair have performed and created together since they were members of the NYC funk-soul band SugarBad. Now, they come together to capture a blend of soul, rock, and R&B that distinguishes Ramey’s artistry.
Ramey opened up about the process, saying, “Recording this album for me was literally like being asleep and dreaming. I dreamed of the day I would be recording my first album but never knew it was actually going to happen. There are countless obstacles to face when trying to be a singer in NYC. Being in that studio in Brooklyn recording my album meant that I was becoming the successful singer I always knew I could be. But now, others are finally starting to see it too! Recording made me feel like a champion. Never give up.”
Surrender tackles various messages of inner-strength, heartbreak, temptation, and growth. “The inspiration behind the music...lots of breakups, lots of situations that were out of my control, lots of me learning about myself, lots about relationships,” says Ramey, “My music is inspired by my life. Every song is about me feeling a way about situations that have happened in my life. This album is one really long diary entry.”
Audiences first got a taste of Ramey baring her soul in 2018 with her solo EP, “I Am...Lisa Ramey”. Her new album will be introduced through the first single “You Ain’t My Friend”. The gritty rock track hosts raw vocals with a lyrical telling tale of toxic relationships and the games people play.
Currently, Lisa Ramey is gearing up for the official release of her single “You Ain’t My Friend” on February 28th. Following the single, Lisa Ramey will be hosting an album release show on March 27th, at Leez New York, Trinity Place in New York City, with a special guest performance from Tim Young, whose vocal talents have been featured on two Grammy-winning albums, The Greatest Showman and Dear Evan Hansen. The evening will have everything from music to fashion, including in-store brand popups and feature designers. Be sure to follow Lisa Ramey on social media to get glimpses of what is to come!
